What shall I have for lunch?

Try the David Citadel Hotel Scala Restaurant for a truely 5 star menu. It should be called, "Up Scala".
The "Mamilla Cafe" is connected to the new Mamilla hotel but has access from the mall for shoppers to stop by and enjoy a great kosher dairy lunch or dinner. Average price is 40 to 60 shekels per person. A great deal in an unbelievable setting on the mall.

Let's Get Practical

From this location you can walk to the city centre very easily in about 5 minutes. The buses 13 and 18 run by directly in front of the Hebrew Union College to areas further north of the city centre and to the central bus station but you can really walk and see many things on the way. You can walk around the corner to Keren Hayesod St in front of the King Solomon hotel and get one of 8 or 10 buses to the city centre or the central bus station.
The old city is best reached through the Mamilla Mall to the Jaffa Gate or skirt the outer wall to the Zion Gate for the Tomb of David, The City of David and into the Armenian Quarter.
All bank branches offer ATMs for cash withdrawals in shekels at the most current rates of exchange. There is an ATM to the left of the entrance to the HUC near the many car rental offices if you prefer to withdraw USD. The car rentals are great but check rates for non Israeli citizens before arriving. You can usually get a better deal on rentals by booking from the US branches, i.e., Hertz or Budget.
Cabs are available all day and all night passing by on the streets. Point your index finger to the opposite side of the street to hail a cab in Israel. Decide on the rates before you enter or ask them to use the meter.
