If this isn't enough head into the old city where you can find schwarma and fallafel in both the Arab and Christian Quarter while in the Armenian Quarter you will find great cuisine.

The whole city of Jerusalem is an archaeolgical bonanza. Anywhere you walk will bring you to the most interesting places in the world. A walk to the old city will find the Kotel; also called the wailing wall at the ancient Jewish Holy site. The Temple in Jerusalem was the most sacred building in Judaism. Herod the Great built vast retaining walls around Mount Moriah, expanding the small, quasi-natural plateau on which the First and Second Temples stood into the wide open spaces of the Temple Mount seen today.

The Tower of David, near the Jaffa Gate just at the end of the Mamilla MAll complex where you will also find the new Mamilla Hotel. this was the site of King Herod's palace as well as where Pontius Pilate held court with the king. The tenth Roman leagion was also posted here at that time. It is a medieval fortress, with later additions. Its towers and ramparts offer splendid views of that part of Jerusalem where Old and New meet, and East meets West. Let's Get Practical

In this area you have many choices of transportation. All of the city is a short walk away, from the old city to the city center you can walk in about 25 minutes. There are buses in and out of the neighborhood that will take you all over Israel. You can pick up a cab very cheaply. Just be sure to arrange a price in advance or ask him to use the meter.
