What is the area like?

Har Nevo is a very exclusive part of North Tel Aviv. You can enjoy the safety of this great neighborhood while getting out and walking. All Israelis would rather walk than drive. Get lost while walking north to The Eretz Israel Museum or south to Old Jaffa. Or simply stay in the area and find our local cafes tucked away in this quiet spot.

What shall I have for lunch?

Enjoy an Italian Lunch in the Rustico Restaurant, Sushi Basel, Hummus Basel, Hummus Ronen, a light patisserie appetizer, or a cafe in the small charming corners all around the Basel Square. There are also many choices along the walk to the Dizengoff Center.

If you want to try the local middle eastern flavors go south on the promenade to Old Jaffa. While there you will find many choices for schwarma, falafel and grill, (allah aish).

 

Where can I empty my wallet?

The Basel area is one of Tel Aviv's trendiest places with plenty of shops of hand made artifacts, fashion, accessories, books and home decorations.
Within a few minutes walk there is the Dizengoff street with all its famous fashion shops, and further along the Dizengoff Center with all the new fashions for Israeli street wear and beach wear. You can dress like the local Tel Avivians or find some great souvenirs for friends and family. A further walk in the neighborhood will bring you to the famous Sheinkin Street which brings all Israelis and tourists here to shop. The clothiers, shoemakers and cafes harkon and call you in. You will love shopping here as much as the Champs Elysee or New York. Many of the shops are local designers and owners so support the economy and buy from these shops. You can usually haggle at local shops rather than in the mall.

Arts and Entertainment?

The Sportek is my favorite place. It has sports fields and jogging tracks. You can also walk along the promenade which runs parallel to the beach and find workout areas with kinetic machines to keep you in shape or just people watch. Near the Sportek is the Hayarkon River which has plenty of green and you can even rent a boat here for a nice romantic trek along the city river in the heart of Tel Aviv.

The Eretz Israel museum has a lot to offer and is a good half days trip for something to do besides the beach. You can find the Glassworks exhibit here as well as an active archaeological site and remnants from King Solomon's Mines.

Let's Get Practical

There are ATM's on every corner for cash exchanges to shekels although most places take international currencies. There are 24 hour supermarkets to stock your fridge and pick up some wines and cheeses for that picnic or relaxing on the beach. Cabs and buses are very inexpensive and found at ever turn on the streets.
